More Information
Each area that uses our services will have two Z-wave motion sensors at the front of their entrance. If there’s an interference in the signal, this suggests someone may be in the way. The direction of movement between the two sensors can be used to count the number of people coming in, and the number of people leaving, in order to roughly gauge how many people are in the room in real-time.
- The motion sensors are placed above the door frame and the frame acts as a filter – so the outside sensor doesn’t detect the inside one and visa versa.
-
The sensors are rotated inwards so that only a very narrow beam of detection is looking straight down. This stops the movement in the room triggering the device.
In essence, we are narrowing the beam to two areas just on either side of the door.
Now how do we use this information? We have a database that holds the information, and it will be fed into a server. When a user goes to our website or app, they select which service they are currently looking for. For starters, these services include ServiceOntario buildings, Walk-in clinics, or even select restaurants!
The user will type in their location, and then a map will display the closest services they are looking for, that are currently available to them. When the user hovers over a specific location, it will use the motion sensor Z wave technology to give an estimate of the number of people currently waiting there, as well as a rough estimate of the wait time for that specific area. This is especially helpful when citizens have tasks that can wait a few days but they would rather just go at a time that is the least busiest for everyone.
